YOUR ELVYN SOCIAL SECS...

Faith Sykes

Keelan Cooper

Your social secs, Faith and Keelan, are responsible for the social life of Elvyn. They will work tirelessly throughout the year to ensure that you have the most amazing time in halls.
The biggest responsibility for your social secs is the 2 weeks of freshers in which they organise day activities and nights out for everyone to enjoy, for example volleyball, themed nights, punch parties and of course prepare you for a Loughborough tradition, the sing off!
However, freshers is not where it ends - during the year they will also organise other events like the winter and summer balls as well as Elvyn Day, which are yearly traditions. These are events where everyone from Elvyn can mingle together, dance and obviously, have lots of fun. There will also be many other events taking place within the hall, for example our famous punch parties!
The social side of the hall is very important, so we work very hard to make sure that we organise events fit for everyone to enjoy throughout the year.
OUR SOCIAL SEC'S TOP TIPS FOR YOUR TIME AT HALLS...
-
Use Fresher's as an opportunity to step outside your comfort zone! As daunting as it is, just remember that everyone is in the same boat.
-
Join as many societies and events as you can. There will be plenty of volunteering opportunities, socials and sporting events throughout the year so make sure to get the most out of your first year!
-
Attend your hall's events! Elvyn will host countless punch parties where you can meet new people.
-
Join an IMS sport - it's a great way to get some exercise into a busy week and have a little competitive fun. You don't need any prior skills in the sport so grab your mates and get going!
-
Don't be disheartened if you haven't found your close friends yet! Everyone is different, and it can take some time before you meet the right people.
