Get ready for an action-packed two weeks and the beginning of your life at Elvyn!
Firstly, congratulations on gaining a place at the best hall in Loughborough University. You will undoubtedly have the best years of your life here.
We have organised two entire weeks full of activities and amazing socials to make sure you have the best Freshers weeks possible. There will be things to do both during the day and evening, and almost every night will be themed, so make sure you are dressed to impress!

One of the biggest events during freshers is the SING OFF! It is essentially a chanting battle between the sixteen halls at Loughborough University, and only one will win. The committee will have written chants according to your Freshers' theme, and you will rehearse them throughout the week. Trust us, there's no other thing like the Sing Off. It is pure adrenaline, incredibly exciting, indescribable, and a true Loughborough experience.
Freshers is the best opportunity to mingle with other people in your hall, get to know the campus, and integrate yourself with the new lifestyle. It is going to be both amazing and unforgettable. However, as fantastic Freshers is, it can be hectic and tiring. So our advice to you is to get fully involved, put yourself out there as much as you can, and enjoy it while it lasts!

Loughborough's Student Union
The Student Union is one of the main hubs of Loughborough University. The union is well-renowned and is 1st in the UK for student experience.
​
You may find yourself going there during the day to run errands at the Spar, grab a coffee at the Starbucks or buy a Loughborough classic hoodie from the stash shop.
​
Every Wednesday (Hey Ewe) and Friday (FND) the Union turns into one of the biggest student night life centres in the UK. With three rooms, each offering different styles of music, there is something for everyone.
Fusion is also open every Tuesday and consists of some oldies but goodies and many iconic student songs (get learning the lyrics to Mr. Brightside). It is also where the iconic 'Elvyn corner' is located so you can always find some friendly faces if you lose your mates.
Cogs plays the best of British grime, hip-hop and US rap and is always a great place to start on a night out at the union, as it is the first room you see as you enter.
Finally, Room One is the biggest and often most crowded room of the union. This is where all live acts come and perform (eg. for freshers ball). On other nights, Room One plays mainly D&B, house music and chart toppers.

While the union does have many opportunities for socialising and making the most of student life, there are also some great places to eat. JC's Pub is open every day and stays open on union nights for some good drink offers.
