FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

MAY I BRING A BICYCLE TO HALLS?

Yes, we have some bike sheds in halls. You can collect a key for a £20 deposit which you can get back at the end of the year if you return your key.

MAY I BRING A CAR TO HALLS?

In most cases, freshers aren't allowed cars on campus, but if you have a good reason security may allow it. More information on car usage and parking in the student handbook

WHAT IS MY ROOM AND FLAT LIKE?

In Elvyn there are 6-8 students per flat with everyone having their own en-suite, and a kitchen per flat to share amongst everyone.

There are 7 blocks with 4 floors and 2 rooms on each floor.

WHEN DO I FIND OUT WHERE I LIVE?

You usually find out what flat and room you are in a couple of days before arriving to Loughborough. The Student Accommodation Centre (SAC) will email your room code. For example, C-32-6 would mean that you're in C block, flat 32, room 6.

WHEN DO I MOVE IN?

Once you have completed your accommodation application through the university website and have been accepted by your chosen hall, you will be given a specific date to arrive, where you will then have to book an arrival time to move in. Exceptions can be made if you cannot arrive on the given date, but you will have to contact SAC.

HOW MANY MEALS DO WE GET?

Being catered, we are provided with lunch and dinner during weekdays. Lunch is available from 12:00-13:30. Light lunch is available from 13:30-15:00, and dinner is available from 17:00-19:30. During the weekends you will have to cook for yourself.

WHAT IS A STUDENT ID?

Your student ID is the proof that you are studying With this card you will be able to eat at the canteen, enter the Union on nights out, and identify yourself throughout the campus.While filling out your accommodation application, you will be asked to fill out information to request your student ID. Once you arrive to your hall, move in and get settled, you will be given your ID.

WHAT IS IMS?

HOW FAR IS THE LIBRARY?

Hall Sport, also known as IMS (Inter-Mural Sport), is a free programme open to all students at the university. It’s a fantastic way to make friends and compete in a range of diverse and inclusive sports that will ensure you get the most out of your hall experience.

The library is a short 3-4 minute walk from Elvyn - extremely convenient during exam time!
